How to Become a Web Designer

Having been in the web design/development industry for 10+ years, I get asked a lot how to become a web designer.

My first response is, "Well, do you want to be a designer or do you want to be a developer." There a huge difference between the two.

A web designer is responsible for the layout, colors and graphics of a website, while the web developer is responsible for the programming and user interface (what happens when a person clicks a button, etc.).

When I get asked how to become a web designer, I almost always return it with that question.

So, in this video, I explain that, but then I go into a little more about the design aspect of websites and what a designer would need to be good at. I also give tips on the main topic that people are asking about:

In any case, you need a little artistic talent to even get started. If you're not at least dabbling in graphic design already, there's no need to worry yourself on how to become a web designer. You need to already have a passion for design before you go that route.

If you choose to go the route of a web designer or even a web developer, let me know. Also, check out what I'm working on by clicking the link below. (hint hint, I built this site that you're watching this video on) ;)
